A Happy New Year to You!!!

So long 2009! Hello 2010!!! This is going to be a good year! Zach and I are finally getting up on our own feet with our new apartment in a great neighborhood, a newer job location, and everything seems like it will fall into place. I have a couple of resolutions for this year too. I am finally ready to go back to a vegetarian diet and hopefully will find myself with more energy. Another resolution, which seems a little silly is, I will begin to remember people's birthdays and remember to send them a card. I will begin this task by sending a card to my best friend's mom who's birthday happens to be the same day as me! January 19, so don't let me forget:)

So what did I wear today? Since today was a work day I decided to dress it up for new years eve.

Happy New Years!!!

The Mysterious Tights

I don't know what it is about these tights but apparently the men were really into them today. I got about 3 compliments on my "hot" tights. I started thinking, "hmmm, maybe these are too sexy for work?" One of the men was about 45 years old when he exclaimed how hot my tights were, as he was helping his elderly mother out of the car. It was hilarious when she asked him why he would ask me that, and then murmured something about manners. So, these might be a weekend thing, since I don't necessarily enjoy my legs being oogled at.

Here's something kind of fun. My friend came to work today with a huge totebag full of makeup to be given away. Her mother in law worked at a Sephora and then they had to close so she got a ton of free makeup! Well, her loss was my gain:)

Here's the low down of what I wore today!

The Bubble Wrap Dress

I've had this dress hanging in my closet for close to 3 months now, and I've finally deciced to wear it today. It either reminds me of bubble wrap or fish tank bubbles. It's really cute, but I noticed a tear in the back seam when I was putting it on. Since I didn't have time to look for another outfit, I just threw on my trusty black cardigan took some pics and then ran out the door. So, it looks like I'll be mending my dress this weekend.

I can't wait to figure out what I'll be wearing tomorrow. A friend of mine knows my style really well and found this amazing vintage green blazer at the thrift store the other day and purchased it for me. So tonight I'll be busy thinking of some ways to integrate it into my looks.

So here's what I wore. Don't you love the way Starla is looking right at the camera. She's so cute. She got freaked out by the clicking sound of the camera.

Another Navy Dress to Add to the Collection

I found this navy dress at the thrift store on Saturday and I was so excited to wear it. I was surprised it came from Forever21 since it was such a long dress. Normally, their dresses are mid-thigh on me, which means it's a definite no-go for work attire. But this was perfect. The back is a pretty dramatic deep v, so the cardigan was a necessity, but I'll be sure to wear it the way it's supposed to be worn, for another occasion. Possibly my birthday party in the next couple of weeks.

Nothing Like a Sunday

Really, this has to be the most boring day of the week. Since we don't own a washer or dryer, and our apartment doesn't have a laundry facility, we have to resort to a crappy day spent at my parents house doing laundry for hours on end. I did enjoy wearing some of my new Christmas presents today. The cardigan was a gift from my mother in law. She really nailed it with this one. I love the fit and the simple stripes. The necklace was a gift from my sister in law. I really like the antiqued look on the locket. Now I just need to find a picture of Zach and I to put in it. The rest of the day was spent watching my Dr. Quinn episodes with my sister. I have also been working on updating my blog and making it more of what I want it to be. With limited knowledge, I discovered a great site here. I knew of IFB, but I never knew what they offered. They've been a real help in my little endeavors so far.

Well here is what I ended up wearing today!

A Fun-Filled Day of Stuff

Zach and I never really get to enjoy our weekends to the fullest. Normally all we are doing are chores, sitting around the house watching tv, or basically just becoming of couple of lazy bums. But today we had a purpose. There is a near-by town just minutes away called Olde Towne Portsmouth and it is such a pretty little area. Their main street is bustling with art galleries, antique shops, and little church owned thrift shops. We decided to hit up a thrift shop and see what kind of goodies we could find. I actually got an Anna Sui dress for Target for a mere $5!! Brand new with tags! Then we decided to walk around Olde Towne and experience the pretty lights and then discovered a Winter Wonderland!

Here's what I wore for the day's festivities

And here are some of the pictures from the Winter Wonderland aka, Creepy Christmas. You'll see what I mean:)

Then Zach and I headed for a yummy lunch at this place called Roger Brown's. It was amazing food and service. We couldn't have been more happy to have found such a cool place to eat.

Check out that plate with chicken and waffles. Pure Amazement!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

and I couldn't sleep a wink! I'm 24 years old and still have this silly excitement that occurs the night before Christmas. I had a lot to be excited for. I was going to be spending the morning with my family and making them a yummy breakfast, then Zach and I were doing a Christmas with his mom, then after that we went to a fun little Christmas party that some family friends were throwing. It was a really great day and I also came away with some nice thoughtful gifts. The epitome of the morning was ripping open the complete series of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I'm a complete nerd and was in love with this show when I was younger and have been asking for this set for the last three Christmases and it finally happened!! I had tears in my eyes!

Here's some pics from the day!

Time for Work

Talk about a downer. I had to work on Christmas Eve today until noon, then I had to high tail it to the mall for some more Christmas shopping. I thought I was done, but had to get one more gift for my husband. Unfortunately I didn't find what I needed, but I had a good substitute in mind. Since today I was slacking at work, I decided not to get all dressed up but here is what I ended up wearing yesterday.

I am so sorry about the horrible quality of these pics. It's dark outside when I get home from work and lighting in here is non exsistent. I will make sure the next batch of photos will be way better.

Just A Few Changes

For the next couple of days I am going to be experimenting with new blogger templates. I hope to design one of my own, but until then I chose white. I think it makes the pictures look brighter actually. This will be a work in process and hopefully won't take too long for me to figure it all out. If anyone out there has any suggestions or tips, they would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

The Clock is Tickin'

The countdown to Christmas is coming much too fast. I thought I was ready for the holiday until I realized I still have a mountain of gifts to wrap, and still some unpacking for the apartment. I have my tree up, but I don't have the ornaments on it yet, and the list continues. But once the big day arrives I'll be cool calm and collected. I hope.

Here's what I decided to wear today. I found these pretty floral tights at Kmart and couldn't resist a little something for myself while I was picking up Christmas ornaments. I think next time I wear them, I'll layer them over a solid pair of tights.

We Survived the Move!!!

It was a long weekend but somehow we came out of it with our sanity still intact. The weather was just plain awful for our box moving, but that was over with by noon. Then we got busy building our Ikea purchases and enjoying some quality time discussing what that peg won't match up with that #*@&ing hole. It was a joy unbounded for sure. Then it was office to my work Christmas party. That was the highlight of the evening. I wish I had gotten pictures but it was just too packed. Here's what we wore:

Then after the stressful Saturday I decided a trip to the Goodwill store was in order. I could have spent an entire day in there and I found some neat stuff. I don't know if this is just our local Goodwill, but Target donates brand new clothes to Goodwill and they sell them for really cheap. I got a black dress and the peacock t-shirt, and also a green dress for my Mom and then the blue dress is from Japan and only has Japanese writing on it.

And lastly I decided I couldn't wait until spring to wear my new blue dress so I threw it on in a mad rush to work and ended up getting some nice compliments on it, which was nice.

Oh Boy!!!

I should feel like pulling my hair out right now, but I don't. Yesterday Zach and his friend had to start moving all the furniture really fast. A Nor-Easter is coming right along with "snow"...which is really just glorified sleet around here. I finally got home from work at 7pm and started unloading my car with a million boxes. Then the full on rain started!!! But I'm happy because we finally have a place of our own again and I am loving every minute of it. I hope to post pics of the new place come Wednesday. That's when the Christmas decorations will be going up!

So here is what I wore yesterday for work and our Polly Anna Party. It was funny because I was originally going to wear a navy skirt with the same top, but at the last minute my manager texted me to say "Let's Wear Jeans" for the party. Of course all of my clothes were packed away in boxes, but I couldn't pass up another jeans day.

Frozen Smiles

Here's something I learned today! Once you start smiling in freezing temperatures it takes a good while to get your face back to normal! Just kidding, but seriously! How do you blogger girls in northern America or Scandinavia with-stand those frigid temperatures with a smile on your face? I found it a bit difficult to control my shivering for these photos since all of a sudden it decides to be 30 degrees. Don't get me wrong. I love that the weather is finally being winter like, but it's just a little hard to be comfortable without a coat. I guess I'll get used to it.

The Happy Things

While I was driving to work today, instead of focusing on having a long day at work I started to think positively about the things that make me happy. Right off the bat, I was already enjoying my choice of a cd (The Lawrence Arms-Greatest Story Ever Told) and that put me in a good mood. Other things that put me in a good mood include thinking about an upcoming trip to the thriftstore, having a nice cup of coffee from a near by coffee shop, going shopping for Christmas dinner, and awaiting a good friend's arrival from Kansas. These are just random things, and I'm sure everyone has those odd things that make you happy just thinking about them. It helps the day seem more bearable at times.

Here's my outfit for the day. I wish that I shortened the skirt, but my sewing machine is acting up so I never got a chance to hem it, but it worked for today.

It's Official!! I've finally moved!

My husband and I have been trying to save up money by living with his mother for the last 9 months and it is finally time for us to say goodbye and move into our own place. I am totally excited for the move since we'll be very close to my work and the apartment is fabulous. Today was the day we got our keys and now we are busy packing box after box full of all the stuff we've collected. I can't wait to post pictures of the new apartment once everything is complete. It'll also be great for picture quality. Currently the house we live in has only 4 windows for natural light, and the apartment has huge beautiful windows all over the place!

Today's outfit is simplicity at it's finest. A little black dress goes a long way in a woman's wardrobe. This is one of my faves and coincidentally, so it this long boyfriend sweater I found at the Forever 21 Clearance bin last year for a mere $7!

Just Another Monday

Mondays always leave much to desire for me. I hate waking up early and then I have to leave the house at 7:20 in order to get to work on time. This Monday could have been better, when it came to work. I had to count about $50,000 today and was ready to blow my brains out, then I had to take these random tests for bank security that take hours to complete. I finished my last test today and won't have to take another until next year. It was funny since one of the tests was about "taking care of the customer" and it actually suggested that I would need to flirt to make the customer feel good. Am I working at Hooters now? I don't have any problems with Hooters and if the girls want to parade around in short shorts for perverted old men than that's their prerogative, but I am a teller! So that was my wonderful day. At least the test, which said I should flirt, gave me a laugh for the rest of the day.

On to what I wore for the day. It was a little dreary and cold so I wore a purple sweater dress I thrifted a couple of months ago and paired it with my cognac accessories. I really love these boots. They are the best purchase I've made from Ebay.
