The Happy Things

While I was driving to work today, instead of focusing on having a long day at work I started to think positively about the things that make me happy. Right off the bat, I was already enjoying my choice of a cd (The Lawrence Arms-Greatest Story Ever Told) and that put me in a good mood. Other things that put me in a good mood include thinking about an upcoming trip to the thriftstore, having a nice cup of coffee from a near by coffee shop, going shopping for Christmas dinner, and awaiting a good friend's arrival from Kansas. These are just random things, and I'm sure everyone has those odd things that make you happy just thinking about them. It helps the day seem more bearable at times.

Here's my outfit for the day. I wish that I shortened the skirt, but my sewing machine is acting up so I never got a chance to hem it, but it worked for today.

It's Official!! I've finally moved!

My husband and I have been trying to save up money by living with his mother for the last 9 months and it is finally time for us to say goodbye and move into our own place. I am totally excited for the move since we'll be very close to my work and the apartment is fabulous. Today was the day we got our keys and now we are busy packing box after box full of all the stuff we've collected. I can't wait to post pictures of the new apartment once everything is complete. It'll also be great for picture quality. Currently the house we live in has only 4 windows for natural light, and the apartment has huge beautiful windows all over the place!

Today's outfit is simplicity at it's finest. A little black dress goes a long way in a woman's wardrobe. This is one of my faves and coincidentally, so it this long boyfriend sweater I found at the Forever 21 Clearance bin last year for a mere $7!

Just Another Monday

Mondays always leave much to desire for me. I hate waking up early and then I have to leave the house at 7:20 in order to get to work on time. This Monday could have been better, when it came to work. I had to count about $50,000 today and was ready to blow my brains out, then I had to take these random tests for bank security that take hours to complete. I finished my last test today and won't have to take another until next year. It was funny since one of the tests was about "taking care of the customer" and it actually suggested that I would need to flirt to make the customer feel good. Am I working at Hooters now? I don't have any problems with Hooters and if the girls want to parade around in short shorts for perverted old men than that's their prerogative, but I am a teller! So that was my wonderful day. At least the test, which said I should flirt, gave me a laugh for the rest of the day.

On to what I wore for the day. It was a little dreary and cold so I wore a purple sweater dress I thrifted a couple of months ago and paired it with my cognac accessories. I really love these boots. They are the best purchase I've made from Ebay.

A Whirl Wind of a Weekend

It's been an exciting weekend, what with gift shopping, cookie making and a trip to Ikea.

I had to take pictures with my yummy cookies, since I was so proud of the fact they hadn't burnt. If you want the recipe, it's on Martha Stewarts Cookie of the Day section. They are to die for!

Now on to the wonderful trip to Ikea. The nearest Ikea to me is about 3 hours away so it's usually one of those all day trips. It was a great experience, until I got to my car to put my goodies in and realized that the back seats didn't fold down like I thought they did. Last time I drove to Ikea it was with my old car, so I never thought of checking the fold down seats. I felt like an idiot when I had to go back and return a coffee table. To make matters worse it was pouring!! So... the inside of my car got soaked while I struggled putting a bookshelf in my back seat. Thank God my sister came with me or else I would've lost my mind. Oh and I had to wear a skirt today! That was another dumb moment of mine this morning. You know how hard it is, to pick up those flat pack boxes without showing the world your bum! Again, thank God my sister came to help.

Here's a few picks from our trip today!
This was how it looked for about 4 minutes and then the sky fell down

Here's the result of strategic maneuvering of those damn boxes.

And here is the completely ridiculous outfit I decided to wear to Ikea. It's cute but totally not practical. Lesson learned.

So, I decided to wear:
white t, aeropostale ($10) grey sweater, dillards (gift) black skirt, thrifted ($3) purple tights, target ($5) black oxfords, payless ($15)

Fantastic Friday

Yesterday was so fantastic! I did have a long day at work, but after work I enjoyed a fun girls night. Of course we had to pick the most depressing movie for a girls night. Apparently He's Just Not That Into You is about men who are douche bags because they want to be, and then the girl either takes them back or doesn't. Our wine made the night better for us married folks.

So my outfit was picked out finally after 30 minutes of trying to find something that wasn't wrinkled. I've been so lazy about getting tedious chores done, since school was at the forefront of my mind. I guess now that the weekend is here, I'll be busy getting all that done.

What a Lark!

I finally finished all my tests this week and now it's off to relax. I can finally read my pile of new magazines, listen to music, and watch some Mad Men again. I was tempted to go to the mall after my test (since the class is right by across the street from it) but I was a good girl and decided to go straight to my car. I do need to update my wardrobe, but that will need to wait a little bit longer. I'm saving up money for my trip to Ikea on Sunday!

So, today I decided on something warm and wintry, since it was much colder today. I opted to wear a turtleneck sweater and a fun tweed skirt. This skirt is my favorite since it has a fun kick pleat and the fabric is such a great quality.

When the Weather Goes Bonkers

For whatever the reason, the weather decided to be uncomfortably warm for a late fall in Virginia. I missed that memo so I ended wearing a nice warm lambs wool sweater. It looked cold outside. It was raining cats and dogs and the wind was blowing like crazy! Once I stepped outside in the rain, I realized how very wrong I was in my choice of clothing. It was practically 75 degrees!!! If I had taken the time to watch the weather channel this morning I would've been a little wiser, but oh well. It's a pretty neat sweater. I liked the way the lines on the sweater draw the eye towards the middle. Much more forgiving then horizontal lines.
