On an Impulse

forever21 hat

Well it seems like this hat on my head is gonna be stuck there a while.  I love love hats!!  Usually when the summer heat kicks in I never even think to put something extra on my head, but this super light straw hat is basically like wearing nothing at all!  And it looks cute.  It was a total impulse buy too.  I was wandering around Forever21 about a month ago and right when I was gonna walk out the store with nothing I glanced over and saw this hat with a big $6 tag on it. I snapped it up and brought it to the cash register as if it was the last straw fedora on the planet.  Hahaha!!  Anyways, that's the story of my hat.  I hope you were enthused ;)

The rest of the outfit really had more to do with my hair.  I have been crazed about hair tutorials on youtube and I stumbled across this tutorial for a fish tail braid.  I've never knew how to do this so I was stoked to see how easy it was!  And basically my hair braid was going to be the focal point of my look.  Oh and also these uber cute sandals I got from Lulu's a couple of month ago.  If you're in the market for comfy stylish sandals, check out them out!!

Chipper as a Song Bird

day14f

Happy Sunday Lovely People!!!  I am in such a chipper mood today.  I think it's because I did a lot of shopping yesterday for fun with Zach and I haven't done that in months.  At the beginning of the year I took a Second Hand Challenge and let me tell you it's been a little...well...challenging.  So to make a long story short I received some TJ Maxx gift cards and decided to treat myself to some things that I've wanted but haven't found while thrifting.

It was an interesting realization.  I didn't want to buy just crap for the sake of buying crap.  I looked for some really nice quality things that I knew would be timeless and not throw-away fashion.  This new perspective on being more eco-logical with my shopping habits has totally changed my ways.

Oh and my dress is something I've been saving for the perfect weather!  My mom got it for me from Urban Outfitters for my birthday back in January.  Do you know how hard it is to keep a dress like this and not wear it for 5 months!! Ugh, it was torture!!  So I wore it to TJ Maxx, Target, the Lafayette Dog Park, and then this fancy schmancy restaurant called Pasha.  So it's a very versatile piece:)

Out with the Old In With the New

Yesterday I decided to wear my new ankle boots and boy are they comfy! Steve Madden did it again! I swear I can wear any of his shoes without a problem. They really are a statement piece though. They have huge flowers on the side of them, so they're hard not to notice. I went to the drugstore in this getup to pick up some orange juice and a lady stopped her car and scream out the window, "I love your boots!!" I was so flattered and then told her to head over to Dillards for their crazy sale.

So the photos of my outfit were taken by my sister, the budding photographer. Some are a little blurry but she's still learning about the functions of her camera.

Holla!!! It's Friday!!

I've been looking forward to this day all week and finally it's here!!! Now there is only one more week before our big trip to New York! I'm almost prepared for the trip. I just need to pick up a few more items and I'll be all set. I am prepared to have an excellent weekend and I can't wait! I'm hoping to see the movie, An Education, while on a little bit of shopping excursion with my sister, if her work schedule can warrant it. And then my family is celebrating Zach's birthday and throwing him a fun little party with his favorite meal (hotdogs and baked beans) and birthday gifts. Then the Super Bowl!!! I love Super Bowl parties and we'll be heading to a friends house for a big party where I will, no doubt, be pigging out and laughing at crazy commercials. Ahh...fun times:)

Alright, so on to the outfit! I am loving the wool now-a-days. It keeps me nice and toasty while walking to work or walking my Starla. This olive colored skirt has been a staple in my wardrobe for a year, and is one of my favorites. I've also been on the hunt for more wool or boucle skirts and hopefully will find some soon. I am lusting after mustard colored skirts, green, red, or orange. Or really any color would suit me fine. I'll try to do some thrifting tomorrow if possible. I seem to have a full plate this weekend.
