Day 22 A Little Brightness to My Day

day22b

It's not often that I come into work and have one of my co-workers bust out laughing at my outfit. Usually she finds my tights selection a little outlandish, but today took the cake. She could not get over the fact I was sporting orange legs!!! I'll admit, it might be a little much, but honestly I loved it! It kind of put me in a cheerful mood and it definitley brightened up my work space. Sporting these tights also put me in the mood to go shopping for more colorful tights. I've been meaning to try out We Love Colors tights, so after Christmas I'll be treating myself to a few pairs.

So I've been getting this question, "Are you all set for Christmas?" about 50 times a day. Being in the customer service department leads to tons of small talk about upcoming holidays, weather, and whatever else someone could think of. But let me tell you, I am not all set for Christmas. It's only December 9th, and I love to procrastinate. I haven't even started my Christmas cards yet! It's been a little crazy these last couple of days and whatever energy I have left, I usually use it to read blogs and catch up with people. So now I pose the question to you guys! Are you all set for Christmas?

Day 21 A Movie Afternoon

day21

What does one do with tons of free time on their hands? Apparently, if it's up to me it's watching movies. I never really get a chance to just sit and relax and watch any movie I choose. These last couple of days I've had the apartment to myself since my afternoons are free and Zach is at work. Yesterday I decided it would be fun to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke and then today it was Holiday with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. Both pretty good movies and it gave my mind a chance to unwind.

Since you can't tell by my bright sunshine photos, I wanted to let you know it was freezing today!!! It hardly ever gets this cold in Virginia, even during winter, but today was a different story. I had to layer like never before. I wore two pair of tights, 2 shirts, a jacket, a coat, and ear muffs and scarves. Oh and I would've worn my new gloves from H&M but I discovered this morning they had sold me a set of two left hand gloves. I was a little miffed since my fingers could've used a little warm comfort.

Day 20 A Desire for Something New

day20c

Ok, it is day 20 of this 30 for 30 Challenge and I'm starting to get a little home sick from all my favorite stores. Christmas is fast approaching, so I really have no need to buy myself anything, but none-the-less, I still have a desire to go shopping for a festive dress and maybe a new coat. I'll bide my time though and have myself a shopping bonanza after Christmas.

day20

day20d

But all these desires for something new hasn't impeded my creativity when it comes to dressing myself. Just today I was wanting to try something different that I haven't done yet; which is to wear knee-high socks with my boots and skirts. I haven't been able to go anywhere to search for new warm socks so I decided to hack a pair of tights that were much too small for my bum. Presto!! New socks! And if I was really motivated I could go ahead and sew the cuffs, but I might do that another day.

day20e

And since I had the day off today I figured I'd wear this outfit out to lunch with my sister. When it comes to eating out with someone who has specific eating habits, it can become quite the conundrum, but my sister, being a smarty pants, suggested we go to this cute little deli called Yorgos! They always have vegan specials so it made my choosing so much easier! I ended up eating a Tempeh BLT with herb vegenaise. It was delicious!

I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas, plus more!

You know how hard it is to come up with a Christmas list at someone's request and you end up just sitting there going, "ummmm....?" I was doing that yesterday when I had 3 people ask what I would like for Christmas. So I've compiled a list with easy to click links to help make the shopping experience that much more stress free for them. I really like handmade items too, but Etsy didn't allow to copy images from their site to Polyvore, so if there is a good handmade alternative, I would prefer that:)

Day 19 Wintry Weekend

day19c

Talk about a full fun weekend! I have to say, one of the best parts of blogging is meeting all the wonderful people who participate in the lifestyle/style blogging community. A few weeks ago I decided it would be fun to get some of the local Virginian-based bloggers together and have a little movie viewing with tea and cookies. Amanda from Another's Treasure and Rebecca from The Clothes Horse were both able to make it and I'm so glad we got to know each other a little better. We enjoyed the film The African Queen and then talked shop about blogging and fashion interests and a little bit about our day to day lives. All in all it was a great way to spend an afternoon and I hope we can all do it again and have more local bloggers who are able to make it.

day19b

day19

Aside from Saturday's activities, Zach and I got to spend an afternoon with Zach's mom. We decided to take her out to lunch for her birthday and then later on my mother in law and I got to spend the afternoon crafting Christmas goodies. I'm pretty much a Christmas junkie so making my own gifts this year is one of the highlights of my month. Another highlight to my month so far, has to be the pretty white stuff that is on my parent's deck. On Saturday night we were surprised by a little tiny snow storm and I decided it would be a nice little backdrop for a wintry outfit post. I tried to dress in layers to make sure I'd be warm today so I threw on a long sleeve vintage blouse, my boyfriend cardigan, jeggings and of course some comfy tall boots.

Day 18 Enjoying the Little Things

1291412563785

When I have a day off from work, it's pretty much like the best feeling in the world. I get so much done and I finally feel productive on the home front. I hung up pictures, cleaned the apartment, did all sorts of crazy errands, and then Zach and I went to our neighborhood's tree lighting. I can't say it enough, but my little neighborhood is probably the greatest place ever. I love it so much that I can't imagine moving anywhere else. Hot cider and cookies plus Christmas carols!! Yes Please!!!!

So in order to be warm and comfy while enjoying the sites and sounds of a Christmas lighting, I decided to wear my jeans, calf length boots, and my furry collar jacket. Again, this jacket isn't the warmest of coats, but I love it so much, I can't really help but put it on over and over again. At least I was smart enough to put a coat in my 30 for 30 Challenge wardrobe at all!! haha...

Day 17 Now This is More Like It!!!

day17d

This outfit was a much better fit for me (both literally and figuratively). It's so funny how an outfit can bring out a whole different feeling inside you. When you feel comfortable in what you wear you can begin to exhibit a different persona. For example, if you're wearing a skirt that might be a little too tight, you might feel self conscious but if you're wearing something that fits and feels good on your body you begin to act a little more self assured. That's basically how I felt in my outfit last night.

day17

day17b

And as you can see from my tree behind me, I've been busy decorating. As soon as I can get it all done, I'll be one happy camper. I have the day off tomorrow so I know what I'll be doing! I already received some pretty vintage glass ornaments from Etsy so I can't wait to decorate my other tree. It'll be like a Christmas town in my place by the time I'm done with it. At least I hope. And if you're in the market for some cute decorations, The Dollar Tree had a million things to choose from! I went a little nuts, but it's all good!
