Yay for Tights!!!

Nothing like some rockin platforms to go with my new window pane tights! I was gearing up for the day that I got to finally wear tights. It seriously takes forever for fall to come around these parts. It won't last forever. I'll probably be wearing tights until Thursday and then back to the 80 degree days. Ugh. Thems the breaks.

Convservative Workplace Can Equal Dulldrums

I absolutely love this skirt! It's so colorful and bright that I felt that it needed a little understating for my conservative workplace. Probably one of the biggest drags of working as a bank teller. I refuse to wear a stuffy suit though. Unless they plan on paying me an extra $15000.00, they can forget it. Maybe that's me just being defiant but whatever. I still look appropriate most of the time.

Just Another Sunday

Do you want to know what I do when it's a boring Sunday? I get in my car and head to the nearest thrift store in get lost in it's splendor. I love to rummage through everything, but today I was on a mission. I needed to find an awesome pair of jeans that I can take with me to Chicago in two weeks. I know I'll be doing a lot of walking and want to be as comfortable as possible, which means a great fitting pair of jeans. I swear I found the perfect fit! For $5 I got myself a pair of The Limited Drew Fit flares, brand new with tags!

So here is my outfit pic for today's laid back vide. I guess the outfit isn't really laid back, but then again, neither am I. Type As tend to not be that way.

A Day for the Dogs

A year ago, I found my sweet lil' pup at the Norfolk SPCA Dog Walk. It's a 5K that helps benefit the shelter in the area, and the dogs get to walk around Ghent in the name of charity. When the walk is over you see all these adorable dogs wearing little signs that say, "adopt me" and last year I fell in love. Starla is one of the cutest and weirdest dogs. She is categorized as a Chiweinnie, since she's half chihuahua and half dachshund. Since today was the anniversary of when I first met my lovable companion, my husband and I took her back to her stomping grounds to mingle with the other doggies. It was fun.

Here's a pic of today's festivities!

Today's Totally Thrfited Threads

Talk about a long day. I took this picture yesterday after work, then before I even had a chance to get on the computer, I crashed on the bed. It made for an eventful friday night, let me tell you.

So this outfit is completely thrifted. Sometimes I'll mix store bought with thrift purchases, but today I realized my whole outfit cost less than 5 bucks! So here's the low down.

To Iron or Not to Iron

Do you ever that feeling where you know exactly what you want to wear, but it may involve a little effort in the way of ironing? I can't tell you how often I decide to forgo an outfit idea, only because it involves a little time with the ironing board. This morning was a different story though. I love this skirt, but it always gets crumpled. It never fails. Well, this morning I had a whole extra to get ready for work, and decided to break out the board and get crackin'.

So, on to the rest of the outfit. I decided on the flats because the skirt was above the knee and it feels more appropriate with bare legs, and then a dark teal tank, then for warmth and comfort a black ruffle cardigan. I found the necklace on the ground and decided it would match great with the whole look (don't worry I rinsed it off at work).

Very Busy Day

Busy busy day for me! I can't believe it is always so late before I even get a chance to take an outfit photo. I'll need to find time to take my photos in better light I suppose.

So I thinking that wearing a sweater would be pretty fitting since it was the first day of fall, even though it did end up being 80 degrees, but the freezing ac took care of that.

Simplicity

Just a quck post today!

I was feeling the need to keep it simple in black and white again. I love the simplicity it offers in the rush of the morning. I had to take the picture inside unfortunately, since it was dark in the morning and dark when I got home today. So the color isn't what I intended but c'est la vie.

Mixing it Up!

Today's look was a mix of textures. I wanted to try mixing the softness of flannel with the sheen of satin. I also threw on some suede and patent pumps to round out the whole look. I actually like how it all came together and the fact that I premeditated on what I would wear the day before made it even better.

So, what am I wearing?

Just a Bore

Okay, so I've decided its time to start planning my outfits the day before. I used to do this religiously on Polyvore, but then I kind of got lazy and stop. But no more. I'm sad to say that this little number I picked out this morning in a haste, was a tad boring. Cream, Black and Gray? Not even a stitch of color or even a little accessory. Sorry for that. I hope to live up to my expectation tomorrow.

Today was a First!

I've been working full-time since I was 18 and not once have I been given a half day. Well today was my day and I just didn't know what to do with myself. I went to the local mall and walked around a bit and ended up buying some reusable grocery bags from Forever 21, and also a pair of sunglasses and lip gloss. Then I wandered into New York and Company. That place is dangerous with all their 70% off signs scattered throughout the whole store. I wanted so many things, but I'm saving most of my money for a trip to Chicago in a few weeks, so I basically ran out of there.

Just a Simple Happy Day

9-14b

Today has been a great day. It was beautiful and warm and the day at work was an enjoyable one. I'll tell you what. Even though being a bank teller can be a monotonous job, you get rewarded by having the greatest customers. It really helps to keep your day at work a happy one, and I'm glad to do the same for them.

9-14a

So the outfit is a little simple but I think it worked. I threw on the mauve heels for an unexpected color in the mix.

Hanging with Friends

9-12a

Today really was a day of rest and relaxation! My friends and I decided to schedule an hour at the spa and finally relieve the stress that impacts us on a daily basis. It was actually the first massage I've ever had, and the only way I can describe how relaxing it was, is by saying when it was over, it was like waking up from a coma.

Since I wasn't sure what we'd be doing after the massage, I decided to dress up a little for the day by wearing a black cotton dress with cork wedges.

The Best Day of the Week!

9-11a

Ah, I'm in love with Fridays. After a long day at work, it's finally time to relax for the weekend. I kept it a little casual at work today by wearing this crinkle linen skirt but dressed it up a bit with the cropped blazer. I also went ahead and remixed the same shoes I wore yesterday since they matched the skirt so well.

Could you wear a LBD for 365 days?

9-10

Well, it's still raining. I'm a little bummed about not being able to take a good picture with natural light, but what can I do. I'm enjoying this dress and I can't wait to start figuring out different ways to dress it up. I was reading in glamour about this girl who decided to wear the same black dress everyday and style it up differently each day, all for charity. Very interesting.
Here's a link to her story!

Enough with the Rain Already!

Sorry for the indoor post, but it's just too wet to take my pictures outside. The whole yard is flooded and gross. It'll be better by tomorrow I hope, but I'm sure it will rain again.
9-9

So on to the outfit! If you haven't noticed, I have a love affair with cardigans. I love them as much as I love tights in the winter. They are the most useful of clothing items my wardrobe, since I'm so prone to uncomfortably cold environments. I used to think I had a problem and I was using my cardigans as a crutch. I was afraid I was creating a fashion rut, but the more I thought about it, the more I realize that as long as I find different ways to style them, then I'll evoke creativity in some shape or form.

The Dreary Labor Day

IMG_0118

It's an odd occurrence when Labor Day is a day that is sunny and warm here in eastern Virginia. Since it wasn't warm and sunny, I ended up wearing jeans and a long cardigan since it was a wet cruddy day. I didn't do anything too spectacular. I went and got myself a cup of the best organic coffee, took a trip to a closing Dillards, and then off to the grocery store. It was very relaxing and enjoyable, but tomorrow will be a new day full of busyness and excitement.

Off to Hell!! Aka the Mall on Labor Day Weekend.

9-5a

It was actually my husband's idea to trek on over to the mall on the Saturday before Labor Day and it was quite the crazy experience. It wasn't so bad since we got to the mall shortly after it opened, but within 30 minutes the mall was crawling with teenagers and children who were in tow with their parents. I took a quick detour to the H&M only to be sadly disappointed that their stock was completely empty. The sales associate said it was due to being between seasons. Well that stunk. But I did end up getting a couple of nice tops at Charlotte Russe. It was 75% off clearance items!

Devil Wears Clearance!!

9-4a

I was totally diggin' this shirt the other day and couldn't believe the crazy deal I got on it! Only $4 at the Macy's clearance rack! Couldn't have been happier with the results and for whatever reason I was told by two people that I resembled the mean girl "Emily" from Devil Wears Prada. Funny since my name is Emily too.

Those Tough Mornings

Again, I had one of those mornings where I couldn't decide on exactly what I wanted to wear. Whenever this happens I try to convince myself that I really just need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, but that isn't very realistic, now is it.

I guess tomorrow I'll just need to try a little harder.

Batter Up Style

IMG_0064

The weather is still gorgeous and it was also a perfect day to take in a baseball game. It was so much fun to just take a break from the hectic work day and relax with my family and watch my team kick butt! And lets not forget the yummy funnel cake. That was the icing on the cake for the night.

Here's what I wore yesterday!

When I bought the dress at the Salvation Army, the lady at the register told me it reminded her a younger version of Lucille Ball...who just happens to be my hero. I need to break out my old VHSs of I Love Lucy and drift off to nostalgia.

sept1a

I couldn't get over how beautiful the weather was today. Absolutely perfect. If it wasn't my second day of work at the new branch, I'd probably call out "sick" and then spend the day wandering around the botanical gardens. So instead of wandering around some pretty gardens, I decided to settle for a fun floral skirt.

You can tell by how my skirt is flowing how breezy and pleasant it is. I wish it didn't have to end.
