Luna Maya Evening

IMG_2913

I'm starting to get a little more exploratory in my neighborhood for my outfit photos. After work Zach and I met some friends for dinner at Luna Maya for an Aids benefit and I decided to look for random places to take pictures since we'd be walking home. I found this abandoned building behind a drugstore. It was so weird since I've never noticed it before and it's such a cool looking building. Next time I'm by it I'll take my pics in the front with the fallen apart doors with the torn up curtains in the window. I'm just not sure what kind of outfit I need to wear to match the surroundings.

And tonight I wanted to be a little more casual for dinner so I threw on some jeans right after work but then tried to jazz up my outfit with my pretty scarf. I've been loving red and blue together, not only in my home decor but also in my outfits.

Steller Days and Swiss Dot Dresses

IMG_2898

Once again, I am loving today! It's always nice to enjoy a slow day every now and then and just relax at my teller station reading a magazine article about Jessica Simpson. How stress free is that? And of course I was totally looking forward to my fun taco night. That white melty cheese is soooo..... good and I can't help but eat a whole cup to myself...and then lie to myself later when I write the info in my food journal. It's only once a week though;)

IMG_2897

IMG_2894

So here is the pretty swiss dot dress I picked up thrifting a few weeks ago. I am in love with it so much. I wore it last week but I ended up not getting pictures since by the time I got home it was dark and my makeup was looking a little less than fresh.

I decided to sport the yellow belt again just to add a little something to the look. It was rather boring without it. And then my spiky coral necklace was put on for that something extra. Note: I bought the necklace thinking it was wood since I'm not too keen on wearing dead animals, but I figured waste not want not and it was pretty pricey in my opinion.

Anyways, I hope you all are having a great Tuesday and I wanted to say thanks to all that leave comments for me. They brighten my day and I hope my comments do the same for you all!

Bygone Weekends

IMG_2887

Well I've super busy this weekend! I hardly had a chance to catch up on my blog and when I did have a few spare moments I was viciously watching MadMen season 3. I've basically watched about 9 hours of it in one week, so I'm feeling extremely accomplished in my personal life:) hehehe...just kidding, but I did have to watch it fast since my mom wanted it back by Sunday.

IMG_2888

Anyways, I've also been busy with doggy sitting, furniture moving, baking, and other domestic duties that the house needed. Needless to say, I wasn't dressed to the nines and I had no intention of doing so for the weekend.

IMG_2885

IMG_2884

Today was a sort of low key day too. I have this terrible bruise on my knee and I have been shying away from dresses and skirts because it is so atrocious looking. Sorry for being all TMI about it, but it's nothing pretty and I'm afraid it would ruin an otherwise pretty outfit. I look the way Scout did when she wore a dress to her first day of school in To Kill A Mockingbird (my all time favorite book and movie). So now I am wearing these capris again with my prison print tunic.

It's Nice to Have Date Nights

IMG_2871

Friday was a pretty crazy day to say the least so by the end of it, I decided Zach and I are going out. We asked our couple friends if they'd be interested in a Italian night and did a little double date. We usually eat with these couples at least twice a week, but I picked a kind of nice restaurant instead of our usual Mexcian place. So La Bella was the place we chose and it's not overly dressy so I threw on my new jeans, a blouse, and my Seychelle wedges and we were off for fun.

So the dinner was excellent and it was nice to have some good times over excellent food and conversation. We talked about books, highschool experiences, movies and of course just random stuff. Just a fun casual date night, I guess:)

Terrific Thursday and Comfy White Dresses

And a terrific Thursday it is too!

So why is Thursday so terrific you ask? Well today at work was really nice, we all got along swimmingly and I also managed to stay busy practically all day. And since it was also gorgeous outside I decided to unearth the buried white dress I totally forgot about it. I almost bought a white dress the other day thinking I didn't have one anymore. Oh and on top of it all, we have Fox again for a long weekend. His mom and dad are going to a wedding so we got him for the next four days. So far it's crazy town in my little apartment and all I see are yellow and black fur ball running around.

Here's a few pics I was able to wrangle after many unsuccessful attempts at trying to get them to not tie me up with their leashes.

Oh and today I got to take my pictures in the mansion district of our neighborhood. These house are super pretty and I wish I had the nerve to stand right in front of them for you to see a picture, but the houses are so big Zach would need to stand on the other side of the street. Here's a pic of me just standing in front of the yard. The house was too far back.

I love living in this neighborhood. It's really quiet and the houses are really nice scenery. Especially at Christmas time.

Just Doing My Thing

Well I was strutting my stuff walking down the sidewalk, when all of a sudden I hear some guy call me, "hey Miss!" Being the only female in the vicinity I went ahead and turned around and said hello. Then he said "I've been noticing you walking around here and just wanted to say that you always look really pretty in your outfits". It was a sweet comment and I didn't take it as weird at the time although he did state he had been noticing the way I look on more than one occasion. So it was a little weird in retrospect, but I figured he's one of the maintenance guys so there is a legitimate reason for him seeing me regularly.

IMG_2835

IMG_2837

So today's outfit was thrown together in a bit of haste. I absolutely love the white skirt and may possibly find myself wearing it way more, now that it's getting warmer. I also rediscovered my cropped blazer in the back of the closet and was more than happy to throw it on over my plain tee. It really pulled my look together and dressing up t-shirts with blazer is always a good idea when you work at a bank.

And who is excited for hump day tomorrow? I am totally excited since it will finally be my half day! And I will be spending it doing a little thrifting and picking up my new furniture from the antique store. And of course my friend 'D' will be with me with her station wagon in tow. I just hope everything fits in it.

And Happy Monday to You Too!

IMG_2827

Happy Monday Yall!! I decided to go the root of retro today with the leopard print heels and the cat eye sunglasses. I almost felt like Rizzo from Grease too with my capris, heels and instead of the Pink Ladies jacket, I wore my magenta cardigan. And since pain evidently equals fashion I decided to sport these heels while walking the dog (not smart) to take my pictures.

IMG_2828

I have so much fun trying to do something that is inspired by movie/tv characters. Sometimes my outfits are inspired by Betty Draper other times Audrey Hepburn. I was in love with this look today and just felt super confident in myself. I love feeling like that, because people can tell you have spring in your step and sometimes feeling good about yourself will start to become contagious. Or at least I hope it does.

IMG_2826

IMG_2825

And just in case anyone is wondering, today was a great day! The morning was painstakingly slow, so I just texted random people to pass the time and then enjoyed a very caffeinated latte. I swear my heart was beating so fast I nearly had a heart attack. But it was worth it! Those suckers can keep me awake and alert for hours. Although my crash came around 1 pm right when things started to get busy.

Party in Your Jorts and Other Fun Weekend Adventures

It's been a fun weekend full of furniture shopping, antiquing and hanging out with friends. It's so important to thoroughly enjoy my weekend, since the work week can be so stressful. Friday night was a blast, as expected. We went to my birthdays birthday party at a mexican restaurant and then later that night we picked up two of our other friends for a Gin, Socks, and Never Nude party. The never nude part of the party was in reference to Arrested Development, so everyone had to come in Jorts of some fashion. It was hilarious! Guys were trying to outdo each other in how short they can go. Thankfully it wasn't too revealing (if you know what I mean).

jorts party

Then Saturday I woke up extra early (although we got in so late I would've preferred to be up later) did some errands and then my friend 'D' and I took to thrifting. On a lark, we walked into this decrepit antique store and browsed a little. They were having an auction and I found some amazing mid century bedroom furniture that was screaming my name. And I actually won them!! So for $50 I took home two perfect condition dressers!!! Thank god too, since our Ikea ones are falling apart right now.

And my new desk from Salvation Army!

IMG_2815

And now that it is Sunday, Zach and I are just enjoying our time together and relaxing. My friend 'D' came by to drop off a nefty chair she thought he'd like (and he does!) and we also went to brunch. Our brunch was pretty spectacular and since we were going somewhere somewhat fancy I decided to dress up a little.

And here I am wearing more floral, but hey, it's spring! Plus it was one of the clean items in my closet. I get a little slack on the laundry sometimes, but thankfully I always keep a couple of cute items clean for days like today. I typically don't enjoy strutting around in sweats in public.

Time to Party!!

Hola everybody!!! I am so excited Friday is finally here and the weekend will commence as soon as I hit Publish Post! Tonight will be crazy busy, as will Saturday, but I can hardly wait. I have two parties tonight, an art show opening for a friend, and then tomorrow will be a thrifting day with my friend 'D'.

IMG_2796

IMG_2795

IMG_2793

And to celebrate the fact that it's finally Friday, I am wearing this awesome dress that was staring at me when I walked into H&M. It was funny because I thought the dress would've been like $25 or something (which is out of my price range for the moment) so I just glanced and walked away. Then Zach saw it and thought I would look cute in it. I rolled my eyes and said, "no, not today". But then he goes, "look, it's only $13!" Well okay then, I'll get it!

IMG_2801

The print is so happy and cute and the cut of the dress is a smock dress, but since I don't want to be asked when I'm due, I decided to cinch it in with my trusty yellow belt. Then I accessorized with my yellow bracelet and my favorite golden locket.

Going for a Change

Well I know I promised better locations for my pictures, and here I am again in my dining room, but the day light was killing my look. The shadows were crazy on me and it was really bumming me out. I guess I'll need to choose another time in the day to get my pics taken.

IMG_2783

IMG_2786

And a funny story about my outfit. I wore a totally different outfit to work in the morning, and the whole ensemble was annoying the hell out of me! The skirt was too wrinkled, the waist was too big, and overall just a blah boring outfit. So at lunch I went home and changed into something with a little more color, more accessories and felt so much better. At one time when I hated my outfit and was working really far from home, I would go to the nearest Ross or Marshalls and buy a totally different outfit. I was obsessed and I guess I was also vain. And this was all before I started taking pictures of my outfits!

IMG_2788

IMG_2789

So there you have it! I guess I could consider myself either a shopaholic or just plain crazy, but now that I've admitted it I have such a weight lifted off my shoulders! heheheh...I won't be that dramatic about it, but I know all of us have our own little quirks.

Out with the Old in with the New

So I pull out my spring clothes, put away the winter clothes, and what happens? A cold front!! I know I'm not the only one out there! It's like a curse or something. Or just Murphy's Law. I'll just have to learn to deal with it I guess. I'm just looking forward to a day that I am not stuck inside working, it's 90 degrees and clear outside. I have secret thoughts of calling in sick when the weather is absolutley perfect and then driving down to North Carolina's Outerbanks for fun in the sun. Although, I have such a huge guilty conscious that I could never do that.

IMG_2753

IMG_2767

Well, even though it was a tad chilly today, I still had to wear something, so I threw on one of my summer dresses and a nice warm acrylic sweater and my teal sandals which I love! But damn they hurt my feet by the end of the day!

IMG_2769

IMG_2765

IMG_2770

Oh and my dress was one of those lucky finds at Urban Outfitters a year ago. I discovered it in a $10 rack and was so excited! It was my first plaid purchase and it really appealed to me. Usually when I find plaid it has crazy colors that just don't look good to me, but this had purple, blue and orange. I could totally blend this dress into my wardrobe, which I will continuing doing throughout the spring/summer months.
