Time to Get to Business

Of all the banks in the area, we were the only ones who decided to open. I was happy that our customers were appreciative that we stayed opened for them, but at the same time it was very hard getting to work when the traffic lights were out. Besides that, not too many people decided that today was the day to head to the bank, so it made for a boring day.

Since there was more flooding in our yard and pretty much everywhere, I decided to keep it casual at work and wore some knee high boots and my skinny jeans. Technically, this was not a dress down day, so I kept it dressy from the waist up. I ended up loving the look by the time I left for work.

Scary Times During the Storm

It was incredibly hectic this morning while I got ready for work. No one was sure if we were going to be at work today since the flooding is rampant. I live in an area where you can't get anywhere without going over bridges or going through tunnels under the water and Virginia had close most of those today. So I get the call that we need to be in work, so I got an excuse to wear something nice today, but still. I only had to be there until 1 since high tide was coming and the flooding is getting worse.

Here's a couple of pictures, since I think it's kind of interesting to see what storms do.

This sign is not suppose to be swinging in the air like that.

And here's my yard all flooded and gross.

Here's what I wore today. It was funny because I get all dressed up for work and everyone starts arriving to work wearing jeans, uggs, and sweaters. Apparently I was already on my way to work when the text message went out saying we could stay in casual clothes. Oh well. I really wanted to wear my newly thrifted Alice Temperley for Target dress.

Back to Reality and Rainy Days

IMG_0901

After a nice short vacation, we came back to a horrible soggy Veteran's Day. This was not the day to take a relaxing drive or go shopping or really do anything at all. Since a friend had a day off, I decided to head over to her house to watch Awaking Ned Devine. It was a good movie, but the thick Scottish accents were a little hard to get use to at first. Then later on Zach and I decided to meet with my parents for a social dinner at church.

The outfit I chose for today was perfect for today's soggy weather. I decided on the boots, since it flooding, and needed the extra foot warmth and of course the tights were great for keeping my legs toasty.

Tales from the Trip

The past couple of days were spent enjoying some quality time with my husband. We weren't celebrating anything, but I wanted to surprise him with a great trip to the country where we'd spend a couple of days visiting old presidential homes and wineries (just some of the perks of living in Virginia). I kept my look stylish yet comfortable since we were going to be doing tons of walking.

Here's a picture of my stylish husband. I helped him pick out his clothes, since he appreciates my opinion when it comes to getting dressed.

This was taken at Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. The grounds and the house were so extravagant. Some places would've taken your breath away.

This is Montpelier, James Madison's home. This was an amazing place. There was so much to see and do around here.

Just Another Sunday Ritual

Here's what I wore today for hanging around the house. I decided to be like Betty Draper and cook all day in my heels. It wasn't so bad, but I couldn't imagine doing it on a regular basis. Of course after all that hard work I decided to reward myself with a trip to the thrift store (like every other Sunday) and a pair of flats.

So, it was pretty uneventful in the shoe and coat department, but I did score a brand new pair of jeans, which I already own and love, a pretty printed top from H&M and a brown shirt dress. All of these items I will try and incorporate into this coming week's looks. So, stayed tuned:)

Today's Exciting Agenda!

I'm being a little sarcastic. Today I am house/pet sitting for my parents while they are in Puerto Rico for the week. Then later tonight my husband is taking over the pet sitting and I'm doing some real deal babysitting until 3am. It's gonna be a long night, but I will be entertaining myself with some MadMen dvds I found on my Mom's bookshelf. I have yet to watch one episode, so tonight's the night.

So today's outfit was a little low keyed but I wanted to play up the outfit with some color. I paired a chartreuse green tee shirt with an eggplant purple sweater, then threw on some jeans and sneakers. Like I said, it was pretty low keyed.

Kinda Saucy..

for work anyways. I decided to throw on the sweater at the last minute, since I wasn't sure how my manager would react to this bright sexy red frock. I found this dress a year ago, and had yet to wear it. Sometimes I feel that red it just too severe on me, but I really like this orangy red. And the cut of the dress is very feminine and sexy. I'll have find more ways to wear this for the weekend or date nights.
