I haven't been too inspired by much of anything in my closet. I am finding myself to be in a rut, and I am taking more of a liking to pants/jeans. I have no idea where this is coming from, but pants just seem to be more my thing lately. I've been wearing skirts and dresses to work, but the outfits just seemed so blah. Today for example, I wore a black skirt with a striped top and called it a day. That's not like me. When I got home I felt more refreshed to come up with something a little different. I wanted a different color palette so I threw together a light yellow top with black skinny jeans and a taupe cardigan. Not my usual color scheme but I liked the way it all came together.
This was also a great look to wear for our evening. I find myself freezing when I go to restaurants, so the cardigan was a great idea for our dinner with friends at Max and Ermas. I stayed nice and comfortable. Then, I was able to transition the outfit into our rendezvous with other friends to enjoy some company, drinks and hookah. Nothing fancy and/or complicated with this outfit. It's so important to feel comfortable in your skin and enjoy a less fussy ensemble. So I am going to see where this new feeling of "what to wear" will take me. Once it gets cooler I'll definitely be trying out more layering and color patterns. Fall brings out the creative in my wardrobe, so let's just see...
I love this outfit, Emily! You look pulled-together but comfortable, which is the look I'm always going for. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair like that, and the neckline on that tank is very flattering on you. And, I think pants totally work for you so just go with it! :)
ReplyDeletei'm with you on this fashion rut/transition. i'm kind of anxious for what fall will do to my wardrobe since i'm actually going to give fall a chance this year instead of just ignoring it and just adding tights to my spring/summer outfits.
ReplyDeleteI'm going through similar situation. I just look at my clothes and can't motivate myself to pull something together. I think it's a combination of post-30 for 30, end of season but not quite cool enough for next seasons clothes, and maybe starting to take my style in a new direction without having money to buy the necessary things to accomplish that. Yeah, anyway. I feel ya.
