Vedette Shape Wear Giveaway!!

day20b

I'm sporting my new favorite Vedette body suit, yet again!!  It's really a versatile piece that I'm excited to rework in my wardrobe on many more occasions.  This particular occasion I felt it would be fun to wear my vibrant neon blue skirt with it and make it like a funky ballerina-esque outfit.  I toned down the uber ballerina vibe with some wedge booties and then some patterned net tights.  It's probably one of my most favorite outfits actually!!  I felt so comfortable in it while walking around doing my errands.

Summer Vacation

forever21

So long!!   Farewell!!  Auf Wiedersehen, adieu!!  I bet I got that Sound of Music song stuck in your head now:) hehehe...  I'm saying farewell, but not goodbye because I'm taking a bit of a blogging break starting tomorrow until June 18.  A whole week!!  But do not fret!  I have lined up some awesome blogger friends to help me out during my mini hiatus/vacation...who I might add, I am soooo thankful for!  So be ready for some fantastic guest posts and even a giveaway to break up my hiatus!!!  I can't really stay away from the internet that long.

For my final look before vacation I took it in a very summery direction.  It was 110 degrees outside with the heat index and I basically wanted to get away with wearing as little clothing as possible.  I thrifted this amazing peach colored summer dress a couple of weeks ago and it finally made its debut!  The embroidery is fantastic and I actually found the color really complimenting to my skin tone.  Plus it makes me hungry for fresh peach pie.  hehehe..

The only accessories I could muster on this hot day was a necklace and a pair of sunnies.  I was a little bummed over the heat too because it practically melted all my pretty curls I achieved from sleeping with my hair wrapped in rags.  Oh well, I'm sure I'll do the rag curls again!  I loved the look of them:)

Time to Play Musical Accessories

Tieka's scarf

About a month ago Jasmine had the fun idea to trade music with a few other bloggers and also trade pretty accessories to style up:)  It was named Musical Accessories.  Sounded fun to me!!  The first item I received was from Tieka's closet.  Here is how Jasmine styled it first!  I had fun with the textures of the scarf and wanted to incorporate it into a very spring-like ensemble, yet still stay casual for a weekend of romping around.  And by romping around I mean taking a trip to Target and visiting the duckies.

And of course, if you're familiar with Tieka's blog, you know that she is very well versed in music.  I had so much fun listening to her mix and will need to have one more listen before I send it off to Kate to appreciate.  I love An Horse, Grand National, Tegan and Sara, Minus the Bear, and pretty much everything else.

The weather was looking super stormy so I wanted to hurry up and get pictures before the sky opened up.  So on our way home from Target we took a detour to a popular area in Norfolk with a pretty canal and gardens.  We jumped out and started taking photos in super windy conditions and then noticed the adorable ducks swimming by.  Zach took that opportunity to take a ton of photos for his first GIF file.

And then we made another one!  I loved the way the wind was moving my hair and the scarf.  The breeze felt so awesome on the warm day and the ominous clouds just added to the mystique.

vintage camera bag

Oh and a couple of weeks ago I won a giveaway from Ramblings of a Small Town Girl and received a cute package from Acute Designs. I love the pretty barrettes and will most definitley be buying more.  They hold my hair really well and look fabulous!

Busting Out!

day14c

So on Sunday I wore a pretty red gingham blouse.  It reminded me of Mary-Ann's outfit from Gilligan's Island and for some reason I got a thirst for more gingham.  Maybe it's because it's finally warming up and I'm in the mood for picnics?  Who knows, but it's a becoming a new trait in my wardrobe.  I found this dress while thrifting in Ohio and instantly fell in love.  Then I discovered it was a child's Espirit dress!  Could I fit that?  I could fit it, but only if I didn't button the buttons on the bust.  I wanted to make it look purposeful and not like my buttons popped off, so I hope I succeeded!!  Please let me know if it didn't!  hehe..

One more thing!!  Recently Melanie from Dressed to IL bestowed the Versatile Blogger Award to me and 5 other bloggers and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank her!!!  (I sound like I'm excepting a Grammy or something!! hehe...) Here are the rules of the game!  Or Award rather.

Thank the person who gave it to you and link back to their blog in your post.
Share seven things about yourself.
Pass the torch to seven recently discovered bloggers.
1.  I love eating my snacks in sweet and salty form.  For example, if I eat chips, I have to eat chocolate with it.
2.  The amount of shoes in my possession is down right ridiculous.  I think I'm creeping towards over 100 at this point.
3.  I haven't owned a bathing suit for 2 years and I live 15 minutes from the beach.  That's just criminal, isn't it?
4.  When people discuss current popular music with me, 9 times out of 10 I have no clue who they're talking about.  Bruno Mars?  Who's that?!
5.  I'm obsessed...and I mean OBSESSED with ghost shows.  Paranormal State, Ghost Hunters, Paranormal Kids, etc.
6.  The happiest time of my day is when I walk to work listening to awesome music.  Today for example I set my Pandora Station to Mad Men and I was in ecstasy!
7.  I've changed my major in college three times and I may change it a fourth.  History is a big passion of mine, so it might be that:)  I already took extra history classes in college for fun, so it seems appropriate.

Now for my picks!!

The New Bag!

IMG_3203

So yesterday was meant for me to have some alone time and just do my thing. One of those things was spending an hour on this Polyvore set for my road trip wardrobe. It's best to be prepared. So I took my Polyvore ideas with me to the thriftstore and set to work. So far I have about 3 and 1/2 outfits, since I wasn't able to find everything. The weather was getting gross so I had to head home early. I had so much fun trying to piece together looks by only thrifting, but I had to stick to my list. Which meant I couldn't buy the pretty Liberty of London dress at Goodwill:(

And look at this fabulous bag!!! I was so excited when I came home and it was sitting on my coffee table. The bag is seriously so cute! It even went well with my work outfit, so I decided Zach and I would go to dinner so I could wear it out. Thanks you so much Amanda for the awesome giveaway:) I can't wait to listen to the mix cd either. I have that on my list of things to do before work tomorrow!

Pleasant Surprises

IMG_3134

I was pleasantly surprised today with so many wonderful things. I won Off Of Broadway's giveaway today, I received a few new readers, and I was lucky to come home with a vintage Coach purse today. I spent my half day from work relaxing with my friend 'D', and we had some quality time with our friend Rachel Zoe. That girl has some serious style to match her serious job. She wears the most amazing things. I think we watched about 5 hours of The Rachel Zoe Project while munching on Taco Bell, so it made for an amazing day!

My outfit was so much fun to put together. I found these super cute rope wedges from the thrift store over the weekend and they were in perfect condition! My only complaint is I haven't been able to thoroughly break in this high wedges and I walked around in them all day long! So now my tooties have little blisters, but that's just the price of beauty and style I suppose. Anywho, my skirt matched the shoes pretty spot on and the rest of the look just fell into place. I found my crumpled up blouse in the back of the dresser, threw it on, added the cardigan and voila! Super easy neutral palette for a super easy day:)

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

I hope everyone's week is going well, so far. I am so happy it's hump day and the week is finally halfway over. It's already been very eventful and fun. Monday was spent shopping at the mall after work and Tuesday was Taco Tuesday where a bunch of friends who brought their friends came for $1 tacos! Ever since I've move to Ghent it's been a whole new brand of friends who are are wonderful people who get involved in our community, enjoy fun parties, and their spontaneity is contagious. Anyways, I just had to brag a little about this fabulous neighborhood I live in and give it it's props!

So I would've taken my outfit shots outside in this great neighborhood, but it's been wet and yucky all week so far. It's a bummer.

I wish I could've been a little more daring with pairing my striped shirt and had paired it with another pattern, but I was dying to wear this tu-tu like skirt. I lost it at my parents house months ago and discovered last week!

Oh and reminder for the Giveaway which ends on Friday!
