Taking a Break from Reality

Ok, so today was spent quite lazily working for 3 hours and then chilling out at home with my pup watching a fabulously horrible film, Paris When it Sizzles. When the billing includes Audrey Hepburn, I'm more than excited to give it a try, but this one was quite ridiculous...but it was meant to be. It was hokey, crazy, and a tad over zealous. Every film cliche is produced in the film (which is the ironic part of the movie) it just seemed in-genuine. Like Hepburn didn't really want to play the role at all. But it ate up a good 1 1/2 hours of my day of nothing and allowed my brain a break.

The hardest part of my day was wearing this outfit. I am wearing a dress underneath a skirt and the double layers on a 101 degree day was extremely unpleasant, but I do it for the challenge! I knew layering would be crucial in making these 30 different items into 30 different outfits, but I totally forgot all about the icky heat and humidity that would spoil the fun. I saw Jasmine from Transient Withdrawal wearing tights yesterday and I was so jealous!! A little rain and cool air would be fabulous right about now. But never fear...our cold front will move in and it will be approximately 88 degrees on Friday. You heard right! 88 degrees will be our cold front. What kind of non-sense is that?

And holy moley! As I am typing away I noticed it is already 4:45pm! My half day is over and now it is back to reality. Zach will be home from work soon and then we will take Starla for a walk, I will make dinner and Zach will help with the dishes (which I should've done while on my halfday..hehehe). He will be pleasantly surprised that I left some for him to wash:) He will also be pleasantly surprised that the Mr. Goodbar I bought him today is already half eaten by yours truly. I'm such a good wife! Sharing is caring, is what I always say! Well, have a lovely evening! I'll be back for day four of this challenge and look forward to piecing together something much more cooler and breezier!

  1. I'm really happy I read this. Yesterday I was looking at this black and white cameo necklace I got at a jewelry party but for the life of me I couldn't remember the brand. Lia Sophia! FEWF!

A lot of people are having problems with the heat when mixed with the layering required in this challenge. :( Just look cute in the air-conditioned indoors. ^_^

  2. i love the layering! that top/dress is so pretty :) I hope it cools down for you, send the warmth to our side of the world!

  3. love that outfit! you look wonderful! i will be doing lots of the skirts on top of dresses outfit soon! xoxo

  4. You look gorgeous! I love the print against the solid black. :)

  5. I totally love that necklace!! It goes amazing with the dress/top. And the pairing of the navy blue is unexpected but it really works!! Good luck on the remaining 27 days!

  6. omg mr goodbars are freaking delicious!!!! layering IS crucial in this challenge which is why i'm kinda relieved the weather isn't too hot here. it's like..high 70s at the hottest. i hope i just didn't jinx myself there haha.

  7. i was going to say, "what a cute dress", then i realized that you said it was a dress under a skirt... i've done that... so unpleasant in 100 degree weather. but i love how you put it together!

  8. Cute dress, you look wonderful in it!!!

  9. Very cute! I like that we get to be creative and layer pieces we wouldn't have thought of before!.

  10. I was all set to echo the 'adorable outfit!' comments then I read the last paragraph and I laughed so loud it sent my cat out of the room. Zach will be so happy to come home from work tonite ;)

  11. Well done on enduring the heat coz the outfit is great. I am joining the challenge tomorrow so thought I would come say Hi and see how its going and its obviously going well!
