My Style Inspiration...

day5a

Have you guys ever seen The Office? I practically watch it every night and I guess somehow Angela's wardrobe must've inspired me to pick up this blouse at the thriftstore. It's high neck, buttons up the back, and lace scream Pioneer girl, (which is how The Office typically describes Angela's style) and I couldn't help but laugh at myself when I thought this. Especially when I remembered a quote from Angela mentioning that she usually gets her clothing ideas from her American Girl dolls.

Day 5

Anyways, I sometimes wonder what makes us choose a certain piece of clothing. Does inspiration just come to us subliminally? I definitley didn't intend to dress as super conservative Angela, but somehow I realized the resemblance shortly after watching an episode where she was wearing a very similar blouse. It's weird. I sometimes do that after I see other bloggers. In fact, I didn't start tucking my blouse into my skirts, until I starting clicking through Jessica Schroeder's pictures on Lucky Style Spotter. One day I just did it, and found out how much better my waist looked!

Blouse, Thrifted ($4)
Cardigan, Thrifted ($3)
Skirt, H&M ($10)
Shoes, UO ($28)
Belt, Forever21 ($3)
Necklace, Forever21 (gift)

And side note---My pictures are especially horrendous these last couple of days, because my stupid battery charger hasn't been charging my camera battery very well. Zach and I walked about 1/2 a mile to take these pics only to realize the camera was still dead. So these were taken with his 3 megapixel phone camera. Just thought you all would like to know:)

  3. This outfit is really cute! I do not really think it is "pioneerish", but I may have to start watching the office to glean some inspiration. :)

  4. I love these kind of blouses. I would fill my wardrobe with them if I could, haha. Also that's a good question about where we get our inspiration from... I'll have to ponder that for awhile. :)

  5. i used to LOVE the office and then it stopped being funny in the 5th season so i just gave up, but it did give me huuuuuuuuuge laughs back in the day hehe! i love this angela-inspired outfit! this is definitely my favorite thus far!

and..i think we can be inspired by anything and everything. sometimes i think it does happen subliminally because one day we can just remember like...a sunset and decide to wear red. and sometimes we consciously remember "oh this blogger wore that i gotta try it." i honestly have no idea when/where/how i got inspired so much by the nautical trend but it happened and i'm definitely running with it hehe!

  6. Such a gorgeous top!
I've been scouring the local thrift shops for a lacy, vintage, cream blouse like yours. No such luck yet, but I'm keeping the hope alive!

I really love the two different shades of purple that you paired in your outfit, too. I'm usually so matchy-matchy, but I'm wanting to try out something like this!

  9. I've heard the Office is where it's at -- maybe I should get on that train. Anyway, what a lovely little outfit. I do sympathize with your battery troubles, and am so happy now that my new camera has a battery that lasts literally three weeks. It makes mishaps like your aforementioned one almost a thing of the past!
